VW ID. Buzz Vehicle Graphics Wirral

How we turned an AI-generated design concept into real printed and cut vinyl vehicle graphics for a VW ID. Buzz — SupaShine by Steph, Wallasey, Wirral. Under £800, six hours in the workshop.

Steph runs SupaShine, a home cleaning business on the Wirral, and wanted her VW ID. Buzz to turn heads. She came to us with an AI-generated concept and it looked the part — bold, pink, fun, exactly the vibe she was going for.

The problem with AI-generated designs

The trouble with AI designs is they don't live in the real world. The van in the render was a different shape to the actual van — body lines ignored, handles in the wrong place, proportions off. We see this a lot. Great for inspiration, no good as a build file.

So we started again from scratch at our Wallasey workshop. We kept the brief, kept the colours, kept the feel — but rebuilt everything around the actual panels of the ID. Buzz, which is a genuinely awkward shape compared to a standard Transit or Sprinter.

Printed and cut vinyl, done properly

The finished job uses a combination of printed vehicle graphics and cut vinyl. The character, logo and main panels are printed on polymeric vinyl from our HP Latex printer — air-free material that applies without bubbles even on complex curves.

All the pink and blue detailing, hearts, stars and lettering are cut from Oracal 751, which is premium long-life vinyl made specifically for vehicle graphics and outdoor use.

Full wrap looks, a fraction of the price

A full wrap on a VW ID. Buzz would have cost Steph between £1,500 and £2,000. This came in under £800, and honestly you'd struggle to tell the difference from the outside. Six hours in the workshop, start to finish.

On the road every day

Steph was made up with it. The van's on the road every day across the Wirral visiting customers, and it turns heads everywhere it goes.

A full wrap on a VW ID Buzz typically costs between £1,500 and £2,000. Using a combination of printed graphics and cut vinyl instead of a full wrap can achieve a similar result for under £800.

A full wrap covers the entire vehicle in printed vinyl. Printed graphics combined with cut vinyl cover specific panels and design elements, achieving a similar visual impact at significantly lower cost.

AI designs are useful for inspiration and direction but rarely work as build files. They often ignore real vehicle body lines, handles and windows. A professional sign maker will rebuild the design to work around the actual vehicle panels.

Quality vehicle graphics use commercial-grade vinyl such as Oracal 751 for cut elements and polymeric vinyl such as LD 393T for printed sections, both designed for long-term outdoor and vehicle use.
